WHEN OR HOW DID YOU DISCOVERED YOU WANT TO BE A FASHION STYLIST ?

15 years ago, a visit to a Chanel exposition in Den Hague changed everything for me. The intricate weaves and delicate embroideries of the pieces on display felt like poetry to me, and I was overcome with an intangibly intense feeling. It was as if I had fallen in love with fashion. This experience was a sign for me to explore new horizons and make some drastic changes in my life.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE ?

As a stylist, I believe that a beautiful story must also have a purpose. My work always revolves around highly conceptual ideas that explore the boundaries of both feminine and masculine shapes. I enjoy combining different fabrics and layers while maintaining a certain balance.

WHO DO YOU LOOK UP TO ?

Perseverance is key when it comes to chasing your dreams, especially in the world of art. As an artist, I've experienced the highs and lows that come with pursuing a creative career. That's why I find it so inspiring to look up to those who have made it to the top, despite facing numerous challenges along the way. Two artists who have always been a great example to me are Grace Coddington and Edward Enninful. Their unwavering dedication to their craft is a testament to the fact that anything is possible if you work hard enough for it.

WHAT ARE YOUR BIGGEST DREAMS ?

As a working mother, my dream is to inspire young girls, including my own daughter, that we can have it all. It's a common misconception that when you become a mother, your career is over. I've encountered too many girls who believe this to be true. But the reality is that women are capable of achieving so much more than we ever expected. I hope to be an example and to inspire.

WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST FEAR ?

I think every artist has a fear for failure. I can be very hard on myself and get too caught up in my thoughts. I try to improve and learn with every job. I think fear is not necessary a bad thing. It gives you a drive to push yourself to be the best. You just have to be careful not to dwell in it and move on.

WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST ACHIEVEMENT / MOST PROUD MOMENT ?
I am very proud that I have been able to provide for my family. As the sole provider in one of the world's most expensive cities, moving to New York was no small feat. However, it fills me with immense pride to say that we have come so far. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunities that have come my way, including being the lead stylist for shows like Louis Vuitton and shooting major campaigns across the globe.

WHAT DO YOU FEEL ABOUT THE CURRENT SITUATION IN THE FASHION INDUSTRY REGARDS STYLE AND PHOTOGRAPHY ?

Sometimes I feel a little sad that the allure that fashion magazines had is slowly disappearing. The magazines are becoming thinner and full of advertisements instead of creative stories. Social media is ushering us in a new era of creativity and innovation. It can be easy to dwell on the past, but I am trying to stay open to the exciting possibilities of the future. I am embracing the ever-changing landscape of styling and photography and see where it takes us.

WE WOULD GIVE YOU 1 MILLION , WHAT WOULD YOUR DREAM PROJECT LOOK LIKE ?

Have you ever wondered about the beauty of abandoned places? The documentary 'Homo Sapiens' explores the unique beauty of abandoned places where nature and the human environment become intertwined. It's fascinating how the resolution process turns something scary into something beautiful. Imagine visiting these places with the biggest couture pieces and shooting a beautiful story. It's a beautiful way to showcase the harmony between nature and art.
WHAT PHOTOSHOOT IS YOUR MOST REMARKABLE/FAVOURITE UNTIL NOW AND WHY ?

Recently, I had the privilege of shooting a cover story for Vogue Portugal with Domen van de Velde. The theme was abundance, and we decided to capture the beauty of an older woman celebrating all the abundance in the world. Our model, Colleen Heidemann was moved to tears by the experience. Soon after we all had tears in our eyes. It was a touching reminder that growing older can be a beautiful and fulfilling journey. As a creative, making a difference is my main purpose, and this photoshoot truly felt like we were doing just that

" Believe and trust in your own abilities. Fashion is subjective. Someone will love your work and someone will hate it ! Just keep going and DON’T GIVE UP! "
WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST STRUGGLE ?

I am extremely perfectionistic. When something doesn’t go the way I have imagined it, I can be pretty hard on myself. I love to be in control and rule out any errors that can happen. Unfortunately the world is not perfect and I am not perfect. Mistakes are bound to happen. I have learned to accept this over the years, but it still remains a struggle of mine.
ADVISE FOR STARTING FASHION STYLISTS ?

First of all, you can only do this, when you can’t imagine yourself doing anything else. Then
be perseverant. Believe and trust in your own abilities. Fashion is subjective. Someone will love your work and someone will hate it. Just keep going and DON’T GIVE UP!

WHAT IS THE BIGGEST MUST HAVE IN EVERY CLOSET ?

Investing in valuable basics is always a good idea! Instead of buying fast fashion, consider pieces that never go out of style like an oversized blazer, well-fitted jeans or the classic 'little black dress'. Don't be afraid to mix and match, and add layers to create bold combinations. Your wardrobe will thank you in the long run!
MOST FAVORITE PERSONAL FASHION PIECE ?
My go-to outfit? An oversized suit. It's effortless, chic, and always makes me feel confident
